Our Story, Our Purpose

Perspect is a youth-driven nonprofit reimagining how families communicate and how systems support them. We bridge the emotional gap between young people and their parents through creative tools, peer-led programs, and community support. By empowering youth to speak and helping caregivers truly listen, we foster connection, healing, and change—both at home and within the child welfare system.

The Distance Between Us

In today’s world, the gap between parents and children is widening, fueling a rise in youth mental health struggles. Many young people feel unheard, misunderstood, and unsafe—even at home. And instead of offering healing, the child welfare system often deepens this harm, instilling fear and worsening trauma.

Through direct work with teens, we’ve seen how the system can leave youth feeling even more isolated—afraid of being removed from their families only to face more distress elsewhere. With 80% of youth in the system experiencing severe mental health issues, the need for change is urgent.

At Perspect, we’re committed to bridging the emotional divide between parents and children. By helping families share perspectives and build stronger communication, we foster connection, trust, and healing. We believe every young person deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported—at home and beyond.
